About Us

Smith Ecological was established by Dr. Darrell Smith, a Certified Floodplain Manager and Professional Wetland Scientist with more than 25 years of experience, roughly half of which has been spent in developing countries. He has Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in aquatic ecology from the University of Texas and Texas A&M University, respectively, as well as a Master of Science in water quality/aquaculture from Auburn University and a Master of Divinity in cross-cultural ministry from Logsdon Seminary (Hardin-Simmons University).
In the course of his professional career, Dr. Smith has served as a regulatory specialist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, providing technical oversight for the Galveston District's wetland program; as a private consultant conducting field wetland, protected species, and natural resource studies, as well as associated permitting; and as a holistic development, agriculture, and natural resource coordinator for a private humanitarian organization working in developing countries. He has considerable experience in the areas of natural resource management and water-related development projects, both in the United States and abroad.
Smith Ecological is available to serve you with your development project, wherever it might be located. We'd love to speak with you today!
